THRIVE – Tackling Mental Burnout of Remote Work Employees aims to address the growing challenge of mental burnout in remote and hybrid work environments. As digital work models continue to expand across Europe, employees often face increased stress, isolation, and difficulty maintaining a healthy work–life balance.

The THRIVE project focuses on supporting Vocational Education and Training (VET) trainers and organisations with innovative tools and methodologies that help remote workers manage stress and improve their well-being. Through the integration of Artificial Intelligence tools, gamified learning scenarios, and psychological resilience training, the project will create practical solutions that help organisations detect burnout risks and promote healthier digital workplaces.

By combining expertise from technology, psychology, and vocational training, THRIVE aims to create sustainable learning resources that enhance digital readiness, resilience, and well-being in modern remote work environments

Why Thrive?

Remote and hybrid work models have become increasingly common across Europe, especially following the rapid digital transformation of workplaces. While remote work offers flexibility and new opportunities, it has also introduced challenges such as mental fatigue, social isolation, and increased risk of burnout among employees.

Many organisations and trainers lack the appropriate tools and strategies to identify burnout symptoms early and provide effective support to remote workers. At the same time, vocational education and training providers need innovative approaches to address the mental health challenges associated with digital work environments.

THRIVE responds to these needs by developing AI-supported tools, gamified learning environments, and resilience training programs that enable trainers and organisations to better support remote workers. The project promotes interdisciplinary collaboration between AI specialists, psychologists, and educators in order to create sustainable solutions that strengthen well-being and productivity in remote workplaces.

Goals

  • Develop AI-powered burnout assessment tools that help VET trainers and organisations identify early signs of burnout among remote workers.

  • Create psychological resilience training modules that provide evidence-based strategies for stress management, emotional well-being, and work-life balance.

  • Design Minecraft-based gamified learning scenarios that simulate workplace challenges and engage participants in interactive stress-management exercises.

  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration between AI experts, psychologists, and vocational education professionals to develop innovative solutions for mental well-being.

  • Disseminate open-access resources and policy recommendations to VET institutions, SMEs, and policymakers in order to promote healthier remote work environments across Europe.

How?

The THRIVE project will achieve its objectives through the following key activities:

  • Project Management, Coordination and Reporting

  • Kick-off meeting bringing together all project partners

  • Development of AI-powered burnout assessment tools

  • Design of gamified learning scenarios using Minecraft

  • Development and delivery of psychological resilience training modules

  • Pilot testing of the tools and training within VET institutions and SMEs

  • Evaluation and improvement based on participant feedback

  • Dissemination activities, awareness events, and open-access publication of project results

These activities will ensure that the project’s outcomes are practical, tested in real environments, and accessible to organisations across Europe.
